I am afraid it wasn't anything profound but it did seem to work well for the
children's time.

I had a dove (Christmas ornament) a poppy and a flag and talked to the
children about symbols - the older ones were able to tell me what a symbol
was - With the dove , Noah, etc., peace, remembrance and country. As well I
told them that they were symbols - of the future and of hope. They were
quite impressed by that. I then asked them to join me facing the
congregation and we led the congregation in singing the National Anthem. A
short prayer before they went to Sunday school. The reaction from the
adults was quite positive.
